A study on the correlation of physical measurements of normal adults with dental arch and crown length

Abstract
This study purposes to examine the correlation of physical measurement(body height and chest measurements) of normal adults with- their dental arch and crown length. The subjects examined in this study are 67 normal adults with normal occlusion(36 males and 31 females) aged 21 or over, and they are sorted into two groups: averageor-above value and below-average value in physical measurements.
The results were as follows;
1 . As for males, the crown length of the upper central incisor was 11.27M in above group and 10.70= in below group(p<0.05); the length of th a lower central incisor was 9.00pm in above group and 8.88mm in below group.The upper and lower dental arch length have no correlation with the body height, but the dental arch width tends to increase proportionately with the body height.
2. As for females, the crown length of the upper central incisor was 10.12mm in above group and 10.01= in below group; the crown length of the lower central incisor was 8.75mm in above group and 7.89mm in below group(p<0.01). The upper dental arch length increases proportionately with the body height.
3. Chest measurements have no correlation with dental arch and crown length in both sex.
